This comprehensive on‑demand webinar, led by Independent Social Worker Susan Carol, explores the complex landscape of Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding. Susan explains how CHC developed, why inconsistencies exist, and how the national framework is intended to ensure fair and defensible decision‑making. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the CHC checklist, DST meetings, Fast Track funding, capacity and consent considerations, and best‑practice evidence gathering.

Using real case insights, Susan highlights common pitfalls, how to avoid flawed assessments, and when to escalate for specialist input. Hosted by Dave Lockwood of Finders International, this session is part of the Finders Development Hub webinar series supporting professionals working in deputyship, safeguarding, hospital discharge, adult social care, and complex case management.

Attendees will come away able to:
• Explain the legal basis of CHC and its intended purpose.
• Apply the four indicators of a primary health need (nature, complexity, intensity, unpredictability).
• Understand key stages: Checklist, DST, Fast Track, reviews & appeals.
• Recognise what evidence strengthens or weakens a CHC application.
• Understand which professionals can trigger CHC and what deputies can/cannot do legally.
• Identify when to seek a second opinion, escalate, or involve specialist practitioners.
